Yosemite Gateway Prescribed Burn Cooperative is a locally-led volunteer network of landowners, community members, and agency partners pooling knowledge, training, capacity, and equipment to carry out prescribed burns on private lands in Mariposa and Eastern Madera Counties

What YGPBC does
Provide technical expertise & training
We offer hands-on training to community members on how to safely carry out prescribed burns, from permitting to burn day operations and post-burn monitoring

Pool resources & equipment
Members can use YGPBC's mobile gear cache which includes drip torches, backpack pumps, and hand tools. Members can host prescribed burns at their own properties in collabortion with YGPBC

Bring people together to burn
Our events emphasize hands on participation. YGPBC burn days enable safe skill development, inclusive for first-timers of all ages and physical abilities
What YGPBC does not do
YGPBC does not provide free labor
Support is offered to landowners to accomplish prescribed burn projects in exchange for contributions back to neighbors and fellow YGPBC members

YGPBC is not a service provider or contract service
YGPBC cannot be hired by landowners to do burns independently. Our goal is to provide training opportunities and assist landowners with accomplishing projects on their properties

YGPBC does not take on the liability for prescribed burns
The liability for burning rests on the landowner or contracted burn boss, not YGPBC or its members
